A Chanukah Message by Rabbi Merle E. Singer

Chanukah Blessing by Rabbi Merle E. Singer

Chanukah arrives with a gentle reminder that a single flame can change the atmosphere of a room, and a single act of goodness can change the direction of a life. A candle simply glows, and that gentle light has a way of becoming a reminder that even the smallest brightness can lift the spirit and lead us on.

The story of the Maccabees teaches that strength can rise from faith, perseverance, and a willingness to continue forward even when the path feels uncertain. A heart that remains open can see possibilities where others see only darkness. A mind that welcomes learning and understanding builds bridges that strengthen families and communities.

May each night of Chanukah guide you to remain strong in your values and gentle in your actions. May each candle encourage kindness that reaches beyond your home. May each moment of celebration remind you that light grows wherever compassion is chosen.

This season I challenge you tochoose an act of kindness each day of Chanukah. A warm word. A patient response. A moment of understanding. A single act of kindness can brighten the life of another person far more than you may ever know. All it takes is one person to encourage positive change. One person to help another in need. And one person to inspire peacefulness. When kindness gathers from many hearts, it rises like a wave that carries comfort and connection through our community and beyond. As this holiday season unfolds, may you offer a light that lifts another soul and reminds our world of its deeper goodness.

Happy Chanukah
